TUG NewCat research team at Pichia 2024 conference in San Diego!

From the 24th to the 27th of March 2024 Andrea K. Hönikl, Lukas Rieder and Anton Glieder of the TUG NewCat research team attended, together with other researchers of the Glieder-Group, the Pichia 2024 conference in San Diego, CA, USA.

The conference provided a great update on the latest P. pastoris research including P. pastoris strain history, developments in expression strain development and process engineering. All NewCat scientists contributed to the conference by presenting posters showing their achievements in tailoring P. pastoris towards LPMO production. Moreover, the conference had plenty of social events, like visiting the SALK Institute for Biological Studies, for networking and scientific exchange among the Pichia community.

On the final day of our journey to California, we had the unique opportunity to join a group seminar of Nobel laureate Prof. Frances H. Arnold at the California Institute of Technology.

We would like to thank Knut and Lloyd Madden from BioGrammatics for putting together such a worthy conference and Prof. Arnold for welcoming us.
